The importance of the national idea cannot be disobeyed in the process of building a nation underpinning on socialist and democratic lines.Nehru in his book "discovery of india " casts aspersions on fellow citizens for becoming passive inmate of past traditions and habits.....By isolation and rigidity of social groups and communities formed on the basis of casts and other forms of subdivisions results in various social and religious dogmas .....

What is required is a concatenation of broad based refinement at all levels of indian social life...Irony lies in the fact that every citizen promulgates the idea of a nation build on equality,justice and free from all forms of discrimination ...definitely,the spirit of the age is in favour of equality,though practice denies it everywhere...racialism,casteism and dividing citizens on all such grounds will definitely jeopardize the nations progress......The most vital element of a progressive and sound nation is "harmonious living"......we all must as responsible citizens should start a process of mutual accomodation of each groups cultural values .To strive for oneness and not fragmentation and further subdivisions ...As rabindranath tagore appropriately quotes.....

" where the world has not been broken up into fragments ,by narrow domestic walls"
